Definition
Undergraduate certificates of 30-60 credits offer focused instruction in a concentrated area. These certificates provide knowledge and skill development in broad enough areas to prepare students for entry into a variety of career fields. They are particularly appropriate in scientific or technical areas such as health care, computer systems, transportation or industrial technology.
General University Requirements for Undergraduate Certificates
At a minimum, in order to earn an Undergraduate Certificate:
- Be admitted to the program.
- Complete a minimum of 30 credits at the 100 level or above for the Undergraduate Certificate.
- Complete at least 25% of the total credits required for the Undergraduate Certificate in residence.
- Complete all major requirements.
- Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (C) at UAA.
- Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (C) in all major requirements.
- Complete all certificate requirements within five years of formal admission.
- Students may elect to graduate under the requirements of any catalog in effect during their formal admission as a certificate-seeking student.
