Undergraduate Certificates

Definition

Undergraduate certificates of 30-60 credits offer focused instruction in a concentrated area. These certificates provide knowledge and skill development in broad enough areas to prepare students for entry into a variety of career fields. They are particularly appropriate in scientific or technical areas such as health care, computer systems, transportation or industrial technology.

General University Requirements for Undergraduate Certificates

At a minimum, in order to earn an Undergraduate Certificate:

  1. Be admitted to the program.
  2. Complete a minimum of 30 credits at the 100 level or above for the Undergraduate Certificate.
  3. Complete at least 25% of the total credits required for the Undergraduate Certificate in residence.
  4. Complete all major requirements.
  5. Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (C) at UAA.
  6. Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 (C) in all major requirements.
  7. Complete all certificate requirements within five years of formal admission.
    1. Students may elect to graduate under the requirements of any catalog in effect during their formal admission as a certificate-seeking student.
