The legal studies minor provides broad exposure to the American legal system, with flexibility for students to explore specific areas of interest. The legal studies minor is not approved by the American Bar Association for paralegal education. Students seeking technical legal skills appropriate for employment as a paralegal should pursue other legal studies degree options.
Please note that students obtaining a legal studies minor are not authorized to provide direct legal services to the public. The legal studies program does not train lawyers.
Advising
- Legal studies courses applied toward the legal studies minor cannot also be applied toward a Bachelor of Arts in Justice.
- Students must declare their minor with, or prior to, their application for graduation.
- A minimum grade of C in each course is required. Courses may be repeated twice to improve grades.

Students seeking a baccalaureate degree in another subject may obtain a Minor in Legal Studies by completing the minor requirements set out below with a minimum grade of C:
